Got got a lot of different shoes, really more than my girlfriends does. I got hunting books I wear daily, since they are warm and this time of year they work great. Wear I live no one seems to care, since I live in a small city, full of outdoors people. I have over priced mocs I got from Catskills mocs, the place that made the ones in The Hunted. I wear them in mild weather and some time camping. I have BlackHawk combat boot s that finally wore out after 2 years. I have issue Mickey Mouse boot s for very cold weather. They are heavy but warm and cheap. Not to mention water prove and wont hold water like other winter boots if they ever get wet. They also wont hold a sent. Rubber is great for hunting. Plan to get some new running shoes for running, but I don't wear them daily. I have hiking sandals for summer beach and water sports. These are the kind that will stay on your feet if you run, not the slides or as I call them shower shoes that seem to be worn by many people as regular foot wear.
Over all I wear footwear that work and not always looks cool. Camping I will bring 2 besides what I wear. My sandals for around camp or swimming/bathing at night so I don't step on anything and my mocs to be quiet if need be. Before I forget, I just picked up a pair of snow shoes from Sportsmansguide.com, used for less than $40 with the bindings. Haven't used snow shoes but plan to get out side and try them and bring them to Winter Scout next week.
My advice in you wear asking for daily wear or bugging out is wear something you can travel in and fits the weather. I see people in the fall and even winter wearing flip flops. What if their car broke down and they had to walk? They would't make it. Carry a sturdy pair in your vehicle and keep a of good sturdy shoes next to your bed, in case you need to them. Also socks meant for use, not fashion. I just graped 12 pairs of military wool socks from the Guide today.
This may sound gay or girly but I got myself one of those PedEggs a year ago to keep my feet in shape, remove all the dead skin and such. Works great, and feel good too. I learned in the Army to take care of my feet. I rarely had blisters even after long ruck marches. Also make sure your foot wear fits right. You may even have to buy 2 pairs if you are one of those people that have different size feet. Measure each foot to be sure you get the right size.
Hope this helps you and sorry if it was long winded.

Mr. Reeve posted once that he was developing a pair of boots. How's the progress coming?

Hey Matt, I have lots of shoes and I go through them quickly. part of my basic storage plan for the whole TEOTWAWKI is a stash of shoes. Now my house is my retreat, so I keep most of them here and I am just getting started. I am collecting tennis shoes and boots and I am getting whatever is on sale when I have a chance. it might be an extra set of wolverine hikers or a set of rubber boots one month and a pair of tennis shoes another. I have yet to buy some real combat boots. I really like some of the adidas brand that u.s. calvary has, but always on back order. I will just take the opportunity to take what fits. I figure I will be the same size for the next few years in the feet anyway, so why not buy what I like and stock up while they are available and cheap. you should have seen the little dance Eli did on the book of eli when he got new shoes. when I make caches I will be adding boots and socks to them. I do like my Vibram 5 fingers and they are the best camp shoe and stalking shoe I have found. I am a large guy, so I have to have heavy duty, wide shoes most of the time or I would wear them on rounds at the hospital. LOL
Oh, and he stopped being Mr. Reeves the first class I took with him. I would take a class and you will forever call him Kevin. he is pretty informal. Also if you haven't looked there is some discussion on footwear earlier in the forums.

The boot I am working on is a very specific anti-tracking boot designed to minimize track signature. I have a couple of prototypes, but not happy yet. Using tan Chuck Taylors as a base. Better than a shoe, but still too visible. Next evolution in the works.

Kevin I wore a pair of the original Chucks while learning surveillance in my U.S. Army CI Agent course and I got blisters big time. It was a paved urban environment granted but I switched to my pair of New Balance running shoes and my barking dogs and screaming arches were ever so grateful. I guess it would be dependent on what you were planning to change about them. My favorite footwear for urban is New Balance trail/runners, woodland and jungle during warm weather OD Ripple Sole Jungle Boots and for winter either Danner Acadia or Matterhorn model #4001996 goretex boots.

This is my all time favorite shoe. Outstanding in the woods, and great in urban as well. Very happy with them. Very comfortable. Can wear them all day.

This is the best boot I have ever worn. Extremely comfortable, good support, reasonably light, fast on off, and tough. Low track signature.

And this is my favorite Counter tracking strap on.

I had a pair of the Blackhawks for 2 years till they wore out. I wore them almostly. I agree with Kelly. I rarely tied the laces as they wear just easy to slid on and off, with out much slob for daily walking. When going over rough terrain I would lace them up. Much better than any issue boot I have owned for warm weather. My choice for cold weather is the old Mickey Mouse boots. Cheap and warm as well as being rubber for sent and fast drying. Used them at Winter Scout and my feet where fine in -29 weather. Only draw back is they are heavy, but the price and comfort takes care of that.
