12/20/2009 11:41:47 AM packs for medical kits
I have seen and used a S.T.O.M.P II medical kit and the black hawk medical bag, and I like them both, but I was looking for a similar bag at maxpedition and couldn't find one I wanted that was close to perfect. what ideas do you guys have for a perfect medical kit bag. I am leaving the scenario open so that I can have alot of ideas. what do you carry your stuff in or what is your ideal bag or bags you would have in your home, car or personal carry or camping etc? there is not perfect bag for one situation, but there has to be one that speaks to you and I want to stock the perfect bag for expeditions, E&E, camping, Disaster and the like but I need the bag.

I have a M-3 Aid Bag which I think would be too small. I also have a M-17 Aid Bag which is what I used when I was a medic and I think the chambers are too small for ALS its ok as a BLS bag. I also own a M-5 Aid bag which is what SOF Medics use and is far less expensive than those STOMP bags. You can also use a large ALICE pack. There are packing lists for the M-5 and the ALICE in the Special Operations Forces Medical Handbook.

How about london bridge bags. They have many and it looks like many SF teams are carrying them. I like the tactical field care bag the best of all the options, but I like the multiple casualty medical backpack as well. I think what I am looking for is something that would keep me going if I had a crisis and we having to bug out. I would like to be able to simply look through it every few months for upkeep, then toss it in the truck and go when I need to alont with other things nonmedical.

i think if I were camping or going to need to take a bigger medical kit to go along with a backpack, I might like the Kifaru Tailgunner II. It opens from the front and looks like a big fannypack medical kit. I also think I would really like the marauder kifaru pack for general packing. you could just add internal packs for modularity, it opens from the front and you could all lots of external pockets as well.

I looked at the london bridge combat modular medical backpak, and it makes me think of the tailgunner II, with a front openning fannypack style and I think I would prefer the Tailgunner II here and its modular options, though I liked both well.

I have not seen the eagle A-III, but some like it on a few forums. On the whole I am leaning toward a Kifaru Marauder with nylon inner pouches and extra out pouches.

These are great if you can afford them. The SF guys have funding to buy off the shelf commercial products so thats why you see them with a lot of high speed stuff like STOMP aid bags and SUUNTO Watches. I do like Tactical Tailor I have a laptop case which is great. I recommended the issue stuff because its what I used and know. I got the M-3, M-17 and the M-5 off of Ebay.

I am in love with Chinook medical. I found it today and so far, it has some of the best stocked medical kits. I really liked the longbow medical pack. it may be overkill for most, but it and the marine medical kits look great. I downloaded the comparison lists for the marine kits for one of the best medical kits outside the modules listed in the wilderness medicine textbooks.
